From PHP-Nuke Inspiration to NovaNuke

NovaNuke is an independent project, but it did not appear without inspiration.

One of its strongest influences is PHP-Nuke, created by Francisco Burzi. For many webmasters, PHP-Nuke demonstrated that a person could install software on ordinary hosting, publish news, add modules, change themes and operate a living website.

NovaNuke takes conceptual inspiration from that experience: modular features, themes, blocks, project news, downloads and direct communication with users.

Inspiration, not inheritance

NovaNuke is not a modified PHP-Nuke distribution and is not presented as an official continuation. Its source, architecture, administration and extension contracts were built independently for modern PHP.

It also makes different decisions. NovaNuke does not include a forum, treats functionality as optional modules and does not accept executable PHP through its administration panel.

The best way to acknowledge the past is not to reproduce it exactly. It is to preserve the useful idea that ordinary people should be able to download software, learn how it works and build a website that belongs to them.
